Construction Case Study

ASDA Express Tottenham Hale

We have completed works on 2nd ASDA convenience store within a bustling and challenging environment

CBES were engaged as main contractor on the six-week project to deliver this landmark new store for ASD in Tottenham Hale, Central London, based upon our extensive experience in delivering similar schemes for our other clients. In addition to managing the construction and fitting out the store, CBES were also responsible for installing a full refrigeration package and all electrical works.

The new store itself is within the ground floor of block of residential flats next to Tottenham Hale tube station, and part of the wider Tottenham Hale Village development. A busy, and bustling area this new store will provide quick sustenance for people on the move in a particularly bustling area. It was critical that we liaised with the Development Team at Tottenham Hale Village as part of this project, to ensure neither side activities negatively impacted the others.

Andy Spyrka, Development Implementation Manager for Tottenham Hale Village said:

“Great work by CBES on a rather tricky centrally London located scheme. Works carried out to tight programme in tight conditions but met with ease and to a high-quality finish. We look forward to working with CBES on our future rollout over the next few years where I’m sure they will bring even more of their experience and suggestions to help improve the whole process.

It was critical that CBES liaised with the developer during the refit of the store giving the tight space and other goings on around the development. As there was no parking area, the team had to come up with innovative solutions for managing incoming plant and materials, as well as a special traffic management system to support this. Our forward thinking and adaptability to this environment meant that these challenges were met and dealt with in good time and successfully. Furthermore, having recently completed the firs ASDA convenience store in Sutton Coldfield, our team brought lessons learned, such as the familiarity with the spec to create efficiencies.

ASDA plans to rollout an additional 30 ‘ASDA Express’ stores throughout 2023 creating over 500 new jobs for local people and plan to use an iterative approach to development to fine tune and refine the format and ranges in the new stores for optimum customer satisfaction.

Hale Village the multi award winning community at Tottenham Hale N17 pass on their thanks and appreciation to City Holdings for their work in the complete fit out of the new Asda Express at Hale Village. This fit out required considerable expertise working on a site with many access challenges and achieving this all within a 6 week programme needs to be commended. Well done City and thank you
