Co-op Callander Refurbishment

A unique technical challenge: a 50‑year‑old building requiring full structural intervention in a confined residential setting

Case Study

The Co‑op Callander refurbishment presented a unique technical challenge: a 50‑year‑old building requiring full structural intervention in a confined residential setting. CBES  led the 11‑week programme, coordinating engineering, safety, and logistical operations to deliver a complete store transformation.

Pre‑construction planning involved detailed liaison with the local council, securing road closures, and developing a comprehensive traffic and safety management plan. With neighbouring properties only metres away, CBES undertook extensive stakeholder engagement to secure access permissions and manage environmental constraints.

Environmental controls were integrated from the outset. Site cabins were powered from the store to eliminate generator emissions, and waste streams were segregated to maximise recycling.

Despite the complexity of the works and the tight urban footprint, the project was delivered on programme and handed over successfully. CBES acknowledges the support of Co‑op's Regional Construction Manager, the Callander store team, and local residents.
