Health & Safety Environment

Health and safety is at the forefront of everything we do

Our mission is to protect our colleagues and stakeholders, ensuring everyone gets home safely at the end of every working day

We're constantly improving our standards and procedures in pursuit of health and safety excellence. Our health and safety values are constantly communicated at every level of the organisation, creating a culture where every single colleague is responsible for safety.

Going home safe every day

Continuous improvement

Going home safe every day

Last year, we carried out over 760 audits to measure health and safety compliance and provided 2,700 colleagues with technical and health and safety related training. Colleagues are rewarded through recognition initiatives when they go above and beyond to demonstrate our health and safety values.

This year CBES has received the ROSPA 'Order of Distinction' recognising our 15 years of consecutive gold awards. We have also received our 9th Gold Fleet Safety Award and have been shortlisted for various awards including CN Specialists 2022 for Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

Demonstrating Wellbeing Leadership

In 2021 CBES was awarded a supplier recognition award from one of our key customers ‘Wellbeing Winners,’ given in recognition of our efforts to support mental health in the workplace.

We offer several other initiatives to support wellbeing. These include utilisation of a retained occupational health providers, Mental Health First Aiders, Employee Assistance Programme and delivering running wellbeing forums such as No Time to Lose (IOSH initiative) and 'Stop. Make a Change'.

This approach naturally extends to our customers and wider supply chain.

Measure, monitor and review

Performance Monitoring

Measure, monitor and review

We operate a robust system to continuously monitor and audit activity in the field. Formal health and safety audits are carried out by proficient health and safety practitioners. Outcomes from planned audits are reported and activity is tracked through to completion so our business leaders can make informed decisions.

Our business leaders make a minimum number of safety visits every year, providing them with an in-depth understanding of the safety-related issues faced by our colleagues, and an opportunity to reinforce safety values in person.
