The refurbishment and remodelling of Costco’s Thurrock warehouse to bring it in line with Costco’s latest company requirements. In particular, the existing bakery and butchery departments required extensive modifications. All of the existing cold rooms were demolished and replacements constructed in new locations, including the installation of new underground drainage and a new frozen cold room floor. A new gas main was installed into the bakery and the existing mechanical services were upgraded to provide hot and cold water services to the remodelled bakery, butchery and deli areas. New floor finishes were installed throughout. We also undertook the replacement of all of the existing refrigerated display units with new equipment, which have greatly improved energy efficiency.
- The store remained fully operational throughout the project.
- Our team undertook 24 hour working with noisy and disruptive works carried out once the store had shut.
- The project fully demobilised over the Easter holiday period for two weeks as this is one of Costco’s busiest times of year.
- Extensive use of Contractor Design Portions saw the architect, M&E engineer and structural engineer novated to CBES to allow the design to be completed.
